Instead of a Bargain Sire of the Week, I wanted to take a look at dam sires. In going to the track and looking through programs I will see some interesting names. They are usually cheap and possibly decent choices. So here are a few, weigh in with comments or even some dam sires of your own.
Vilzak - son of Green Dancer was a G1 winner and is super cheap in the sim. barley used in the sim but he is cheap.
Vanlandingham - multiple G1 winner, son of Cox's Ridge, good stamina, barely used in the sim still holds decent price.
Rhythm - on the expensive side bargain wise at 85 points or so but what a pedigree...Mr. Prospector x Northern Dancer x Buckpasser. Also a champion 2yr old. 4 stakes winners in 2005, 2004 as a sim dam sire.
Personal Flag - another multiple G1 winner. No Mr. P no Northern Dancer, no Bold Ruler a great pedigree for nearly any sire line. Classic bloodlines from Damascus, Ribot (Hoist the Flag) and Hyperion (Aristophanes).
Greinton - multiple G1 winner set track records back in the day at Hollywood park for both 8f and 10f. Good turfy dam sire candidate. For that matter he is still alive and you can breed two or three year olds with him.
Dispersal - G1 winning son of Sunny's Halo, loads of stamina here. Barely used in the sim so it is interesting his cost is in the 50's.
Magesterial - G2 winner by Northern Dancer interesting pedigree all together with a little Hail to Reason, War Admiral. Has produced a sim stakes winner as a dam sire.
Air Forbes Won - won the Wood Memorial with Bold Ruler blood lines but free and clear of other major blood lines.
Vigors - is another on the more expensive side at 75 points or so. He was a multiple G1 winner, and has done well as a dam sire. Free and clear of Mr P, Northern Dancer, Bold Ruler, Ribot, In Reality very compatible pedigree.

Awesome idea! I often think the DS is the real star for bargain breds. I mean a lot of nice sires from the late 70's, the 80's, and 90's have been forgotten. Then you see they are quite prominent in modern racing, or at least their mares always have some real nice horses. Since I love this board I will give the name of my favorite dam sire here. I have had mixed results but my most current bargain looks to be a monster from the broodmare. I swear by Interprete as a dam sire. One thing I love about Interprete who is the broodmare sire to Invasor is that he gets extremely cheap (like 25), and most of my runners with Interprete bloodlines at least earn bps! I consider any breeding that leads to a horse that earned back his bps and a little more a success. I know that sounds silly but if I breed a ton of bargains that can't really earn any bps then I am really out. If they earn some and at worse give me a solid runner for a year and a half then at least some enjoyment and bps back. derbyfever.com/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=177190That is my Interprete runner that is looking awesome. I am trying to find the papers, but I think I got lazy the week I bred him. Either way I am proud of him. Here is a two year old that has papers! derbyfever.com/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=179489My latest as Interprete as a mare has yet to run. She probably will let me down, but her mating I consider to be as close to perfection as you can get for interprete, not so much because I am a Encosta De Lago fan, but because she just has excellent planning, and is extremely well thought out. The problem is probably will be the sire I used though. derbyfever.com/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=186070I love Interprete and the dams dam sire for that one. The best thing is they should work excellent together. Since I am giving Interprete a plug I might as well help you with a head start on breeding with Interprete. Here is some possible sires to use when Interprete is DS: Candy Ride LEROIDESANIMAUX Any Halo line! or Blushing Groom BERNSTEIN ORIENTATE CORINTHIAN PULPIT SIGHTSEEING Tapit Bob and John Petionville Cherokee Run Lewis Michael I love the idea of Bold Ruler line at DDS if you are using some ND in front. Also like Blushing Groom line at DDS and Halo line. I believe Interprete has some good runners in him and is worth a cheap try on a Sunday. I also like many of the other bargains DS that were listed in the first thread here. Pretty much all, but Vilzak I didn't know. I love Magesterial though I don't have success with him yet. Some other potentially nice ds are: Worldwatch (Nijinsky II) (though might be better as dds), Ciro (Woodman x Nijinsky II), Proper Reality (In Reality x Nodouble), Morning Bob (Blushing Groom x The Axe II), and Thirty Six Red. Some of these have been terrible in the sim, and some I have tried with no success but they all have something I like about them. Keep in mind I shun sim results. I simply believe to many breedings are poor matches, and do not put weight in others breedings much. Axe I agree with what you say about real life numbers. That is what I look at. I have used Grosvenor this year too. What a bargain he is! Their is some great ones. I like your Choisir breed a lot at a glance. Looks real nice!

Interprete is interesting. How about BLAKENEY as DDS? Tourbillon and 3 lines of Nearco, 1 through Nasrullah.
Definitely some Turn-To and Northern Dancer in the sire. Lots of that to choose from!

Got a maiden winner using Greinton as the dam sire and Sauce Boat as the dams dam sire this week. Sauce Boat is another that could be added to the list although probably best fits as a DDS. caldron came from off the pace a bit to take a MSW race.

Where do you guys go to get real-life stats for dam sires and DDSs? I tend to use Bloodhorse.com's stallion register for sires, but is there a good place to get progeny stats for older horses not currently in stud?

unfortunately there is not a site that I am aware of that gives detailed information on older sires. I got that information from www.pedigreequery.com . They have some race info and you can look up progeny but nothing really detailed.

Oops, hit some wrong buttons somewhere! EXEGETE wound up with CANONERO II as DDS. Hate when that happens!
