We added a couple of stakes prior to the Bargain Bowl this year in this division it was the Bargain El Joven.
CT's Flash won by a length Key Party was second almost 6 lengths ahead of Al Centaine who finished 3rd 6 and 3/4 lengths from the winner. Calderon was 4th.
I am not sure what to do distance wise here. I started out the races at a mile but reduced the distance to 7f in recent years mainly because i thought that made the field a little more competitive. The thinking was at 7f the sprinters would not necessarily dominate, and route runners would have a shot running late. Sometimes with juvys in routes we see races like the El Joven where the top two are way clear of the rest of the field.
Because it has been on the web site all year at 7f I am keeping the race at 7f for this year but I think this will change in the future. Feel free to comment or give your opinion on the matter.

Some race history. Colts have held their own here winning three of the four runnings of this race. Runners here tend to go on and win the 100 Guineas. You do not necessarily have to win the race but doing well here is usually a good sign.
2006 winner Gonzo came back and won the 2007 100 Guineas. Second place Point Ringman went on to win the 2007 Silent Witness at the Bargain Bowl.
2007 winner Altieri Sort (filly) came back and won the 2008 100 Guineas.
2008 second place runner Shoeless Greek had a great year this year as a three year old winning the Bargain Derby, and 100 Guineas.
Stakes record is held by 2008 winner Monarchs Sunshine in 1:24 2/5 for an 82 speed figure.
On average the winner has been around a 78-79 speed figure.

Great stats again Morgan. I don't like Key Party's chances as I think he will need longer then 7f but I do have hopes for him in the Series next yr.

Johannahin us a debutant and very unlikely to feature as a threat, especially as a filly taking on the boys. Basically just needed something to run. Better an unraced baby than my other lot that have proven they're useless. For those that haven't noticed, she has the same dams pedigree (JOHANN QUATZ(FR) x SAINT TROPEZ) as Key Party, while their sires (Albarahin and Purim) are both by sons of Roberto.

I did think that was cool dragnil that we used the same backends, found that quite interesting we both fell into that and that its worked pretty well..
