Anyone want to trash talk go ahead A couple of notes... The first couple of runnings of the Bargain Derby had 20 runners but the 2008 version say a drastic drop to 6 runners. This years 11 runners makes it appear as though three year olds are on the rise this year. The Oaks has had some bigger fields but the 11 runners this year is the same as last year. The Silenus Mile debuted last year with 6 runners. I was shocked at the entries this year. We had an overflowing entry box this year with a full field of 14 runners on tap. For those that had entries that did not make the field contact me I will see about bidding a race for your runner. Onto talk of this week with my entries... I can tell you I have two entries in the Bargain Derby and they probably represent my best chance at the Bargain Derby. I entered a maiden which I usually would not do but the maiden has posted some solid speed figures in MSW company. A little improvement and this three year old Repent colt could be a player in the BBRS. I did not have an entry in the Oaks, this year. Bad year for three year old fillies in my barns anyway. I have an entry in the Mile but man has the competition picked up in this division. Maybe I can make some hay on the front end with Germania Allez like I did at the Bargain Bowl. Pricey Magpie is getting better with age and will be very tough to handle but history has shown that good form against open competition does not always translate well against fellow bargain breds.

I have two entries in this weeks Oaks and it would be a total shock to see either of them finish in the money. (or even get the 2% fifth place finish money) The odds maker has them correctly marked at 50-1 or more. Regardless, I entered them since I like the series so much and also wanted to get some idea as to their abilities at longer distances. Ambrosini and DipintheMeadow will be switched to turf races next time out to see how they race on that surface.
Good Luck to everyone who has horses entered in all three races this week.

Well I guess I am not too disappointed my runners finished second and third in the Derby. Slewpent Just could not quite run down Shoeless Greek. Slewpent will show up next in the Bronx.
Box Top the third place finisher will be headed to the 100 Guineas.
Slave to Tradition took on the boys in the Ozark and looked sharp when facing her own sex in the Oaks. Nice sharp win for her.
King of Wariuz took down the boys and really a pretty sharp group of turf milers. Will she swing back to 9f in the Hunt Turf Cup in three weeks?
