I am going to try and put together a Bargain Derby / Oaks preview after the races April 7. If you would like me to look or discuss specific runners you have that are aiming or will run in the Derby or Oaks please let me know. You can post it here or send me an email.
For example I plan on bringing another runner turf to dirt into the Derby. He has 4 starts (2 wins) on turf Valom will make his dirt debut in the Derby. Broke his maiden on the Bargain Bowl undercard. Since then has raced in allowance company. Exits his race today with a solid speed figure (90) in a 9.5f turf allowance. He was 6th but I think he can move forward off that race.

I am looking forward already! All my cards were shown already. The last two "hidden" horses are ready for the Ozark tomorrow. Bless This Space looks really good, but I assume he can't beat the distance and based on his Ozark result he will or won't go to the derby. I trust a bit more in Profound Effect, who tried the derby distance already. I also think 9.5F will be the biggest cake he is able to handle, but if he won't fail completely in the Ozark, he will go to the derby. And Encircled - he was competing on the turf last year, but since the beginning I expected him to be competitive on dirt. Somehow I think, he could be the best of my horses in THE race. But I will add more ideas later... Well, one more consideration. I was lucky with the filly last year. I lean to send Atlas Air to the Oaks so far, but may be I decide not to send her against Noon Hill Wood. But decision is not done yet...

Well, new thoughts today...
I am surprised Profound Effect ran that bad, but he will go to the derby anyway.
I am a bit disappointed with Encircled.
Bless This Space did a good job, but I am still convinced he won't handle the distance.
Atlas Air will challenge the boys!
My derby runners will be: Bless This Space, Related Protein, Encircled, Profound Effect and Atlas Air

Bargain Derby
Manngari has exceeded expectations so far, with his bargain basement 30 point pedigree, but he is really a turf horse. He was well beaten in the Ozark Derby but I have to give him a shot at the big one based on his effort in the Bargie Day Derby.
Mark Of Vision likewise disappointed in the Ozark Derby but his Bargie Day Derby win gives him a chance. The big concern is the distance which could very well be too much for him.
Bargain Oaks
All Inn hasn't won since her maiden debut but hasn't missed the board in 7 starts and includes 4 Bargain stakes races among those. The Oaks trip should suit and she should run well again.
Jud Jet is a bit of a long shot entry. Her best runs have all been in sprints but she tends to run on as if she can stay. I'll likely try a change of tactics with her and hope for the best.
Manntrix could likely end up being a turf sprinter rather than the dirt router required for the Oaks, but she always tries and deserves a chance. Change of tactics might be on the cards for her too.

I am not sure how crowded the race gets so I will only comment on the horse I believe will make either field regardless MYSTIC RUIN. If you feel like any other my other nominees have a chance by all means would love some commentary on them'
MYSTIC RUIN is a filly pointing to the Derby. She is a scratch bred hypothetical half sister to BOWMAN AVENUE( DS Bowman's Band DDS American Odyssey) who had very solid numbers up to 12f, although he never really raced in open company. She won a listed stake in her only career start a 8.5F defeating a field of 14 and earning an 80 speed figure. I know she is taking a big jump in class and being asked to do a lot in her very young career but I think she will get the distance, she can handle a large field, and I believe she is a talented runner.
