The series is pretty much at a good point right now with races based on our pool of competing horses and based on each division having a set number of races. However I am always open to looking at adding races.
The schedule is set for this year although I am not opposed to discussing, adding or testing races. The one place or division I would like to add a stakes race or two is the two year old division. The first year of the Bargain Bowl two year old races where at a mile, the year after I moved them back to 7f and I really cannot remember why. We had good size fields for the route races I would like to move those back to route races like the Breeder's Bowl with the possible addition of two stakes races.
As an aside I find it interesting nearly all the G1 races for two year olds in the states are route races, anyways I was thinking of eventually adding the Hopeful (7f) and Chapagne (8f). I think I would change the distance of the Hopeful to 6.5f but both of those races are on dirt. I would want to also add a couple of turf races eventually.
So this year I am thinking of moving allowance races back to the end of August, first of September and rolling out a dirt stakes and turf stakes about 5 weeks prior to the Bargain Bowl.
To this point I have not separated the two year old division between colts and fillies. I take a more international look at two year olds, the fillies can compete with the boys just fine at this age. Our Bargain Bowl results back up that thought process as the fillies have dominated the Charlie's Tiger winning every running and have won one of the Class Acks while placing in a couple of others. So there is no plan of giving them separate races at this time.
Let me know what you think about the two year olds or any other races you might like to see.
