With the introduction of regional/state racing coming upon us in the near future, I thought I'd start a thread on this. I know that I, for one, am beginning to breed with some regional racing in mind.
There are obviously a few regions that boast most of the big sires, so if you breed for other, "non-traditional" regions you are limited to lesser sires. That means a lot of bargain sires.
Are there any sires (or DS/DDS for that matter) out there that you have had success for that will help qualify runners for state/regional racing across the country?
Share your experiences and ideas here.

Living in Oklahoma, I thought I'd try an OK sire last year. I bred a bunch by Monarch's Maze. I got my first graded winner - Monarch's Prize - and a winner of a BB stakes - Monarch's Sunshine. 6 of the other 7 I bred have won at least one race, though they haven't come close to approaching the record of these 2. I'd like to breed more using Concern as the sire.

I have to give props to CAHILL ROAD (WA) - full brother of UNBRIDLED. Been pretty solid for me. He gave me a BBRS winner in the DS position, and just today a stakes placed runner in the sire spot. I think i've only used him 2 other times and 1 is a 2yo that has only run once. Really though, it's probably more a roll of the dice. Those dice are loaded, too!

I used Cahill Road at least once, as a dam-sire for No. 127171 WILLIAM THOMAS. He won me a stakes race as a 2-year-old. I eventually lost him for a $25,000 tag in what was probably going to be the last race before I retired him. Since he's been 4th, 1st, 3rd, 2nd with his new barn running for that same $25K-$20K tag.
Cahill Road is perhaps the most credible Washington sire of 2-year-olds in the sim, though, I'd agree.
That's the only Yonaguska stakes winner in the sim, by the way, and was a bargain, with Cahill Road x Deposit Ticket. Third in the 2007 Bargain Derby.
I try not to use the same sires too often, though. So I'm not a great source of multiple-successes from a given sire.
I got two 100-SF stakes-placers from the freshman crop of Kentucky Sire Woke Up Dreamin (Woke Up Screamin, who was Tactical Cat x Desert Wine on the dam's side, and Woke Up Steamin, Stormin Fever x Northern Prospect, the latter probably not a bargain as it was in another stable.) ... But then I think Mike turned down the ability of Woke Up Dreamin. His next three crops have been small and mostly for crap.
Limit Out in West Virginia has given me a stakes winner (recent Paint Brush winner and 2-year-old "Bargie" champion INUIT LEGEND). And he has very good average earnings for such a cheap sire (under 30 points probably this week); over $50K per runner, with 60 percent winners. ... Some very good, though, some very bad. Sort of how the sim goes.
Husband has had a few good ones and the sim still lists him available for 2-year-olds in Virginia, though I had thought he was dead or pensioned. The Virginia Thoroughbred Association still has him in its searchable database, though. ... He was the dam-sire of my Bargain Bowl Cemetery Distaff winner EXCELLER ROAD (Magloire x Husband x Strawberry Road). Should be a turf influence and typically is, but she was a dirt horse. His distance influence held true, though.
